This book is unique in that it give the reader a concise history of teas introduction, acceptance, and consumption in the United Kingdom and parts of Europe. It takes readers to far off unseen lands long forgotten or lost that once held a sacred place in the hearts and mind of every tea lover. The book describes the adventures of early botanists who dared to venture into a vast and mysterious land unknown to the west in an attempt to discover the secrets of an elusive plant that guaranteed fame and fortune to whoever could cultivate it outside of china. The follies of men who tried and failed to get the elusive herb to grow outside of its native habitat, when it was closer than they could have ever imagined. There are the epic battles of greedy merchants who would fight to the death rather than turn back without a full hull of this precious cargo, and the wars it created that would mark the beginning of the two radically different cultures of East and West which would clash for who could get the upper hand in this booming trade good. Battles, trade, silver, pidgin, porcelain, conquest, empire, and tea. This book is truly worth the title of,
